Airfreight

The Humanitarian cargo

ASF has negociated preferential rates with Air France Cargo and, when needed with maritime carriers.

The custom clearance agent, Kuhne & Nagel is striving too obtain the best prices from other airline companies for the benefit of associations wishing to send humanitarian freight in large quantity.

In 2011, all in all, 12 tons of emergency cargo were shipped towards 30 destinations among which Sri Lanka, Nepal, Cambodia, Ethiopia, West and East Africa.

Additionally, thanks to a partnership with the Airbus Corporate Foundation and ATR, the plane manufacturer, ASF is offered free carriage of significant tonnage of emergency humanitarian aid.

In March 2011, within this frame, 400 kg were embarked on an ATR ferry flight to Manila, then, in May 6,500 kg on an Airbus to be delivered in Bogota, and finally, in November 610 kg on an Airbus overhauled in Toulouse and on its way back to Dakar.

How works the ASF humanitarian freight

Air transport of humanitarian freight intervenes only in case of emergency otherwise the transport is directed on the sea route.

For all the destinations served by Air France, small surgical or medical equipment or medicine parcels exceeding the Medical parcels department requirements (size under 30x30x40 cm and weight below 10kg) are taken care by the humanitarian freight.

For all the destinations not served by Air France, the humanitarian freight intervenes via the forwarder Kuhne & Nagel without any size and weight restriction.

Humanitarian freight accepts ALL the sendings with a humanitarian character presented by associations duly listed and registered on the Journal Officiel, and not only medical or surgical equipment.

As far as sea transport is concerned, we can provide recommendation to associations and give them an estimate via our forwarder Nord Sud based in ROUEN.
