maintenance

Planes type  : Cessna Grand Caravan 208 B

Monoturboprop (well known PT6) uses Jet A1. Cessna Caravan has a high wing and fixed landing gear. It is  tough and reliable,  offering 9 passenger seats or room for 1 ton of freight for stages up to 1500 km. It is fitted with a cargo door for easy loading and it has a pod to increase its available cargo volume.

Aircraft maintenance

The approved Part 145 Workshop " France Aviation " based in Toussus-le-Noble is responsible for maintenance.

Six volunteer mechanics, all possessing the required qualifications,  are authorized  to work on ASF Caravan.
In 2009, ASF signed an agreement with Air France management so that some Air France (AF) mechanics- can intervene as volunteers on the ASF planes based in the DRC. This partnership allows our association to reduce its maintenance costs while benefiting from perfectly qualified personnel. The AF mechanics working on ASF planes also volunteer their services.
To carry out small maintenance, a Part 145 certificated workshop has been installed  at the  N'dolo airport in Kinshasa.

Management and follow-up of Airworthiness

Airworthiness follow-up is done through the AMOS  system by Enhance Aero.

Coordination of maintenance operations

Our team of voluntary mechanics at Orly coordinate maintenance programs.

Gabrielle is her name; she is a 25 year old mechanic...

“Since early childhood, I was fascinated by mechanics and aviation.
I had heard about ASF long before I started school at the “Amaury de la Grange”.
"This is where I passed my BTS diploma specialising in aviation maintenance, followed by two licences (B1 & B2 in mechanical and avionics). After graduation, I joined “Cessna Citation”, a company specialising in long-range medium business jetaircraft at Le Bourget airport.
One of my dreams was to get involved in humanitarian work and in September 2010, I finally found a way to fulfill that dream: I simply offered my services free of charge as a volunteer to ASF, joining their aircraft-mission. I am so happy to use my days off for such a good cause and I look forward in getting even more involved in the future!”
