Medical supplies

Medical supplies
The ASF “medical supplies” service offers, exclusively to humanitarian approved associations, the possibility of sending parcel of 8 kg of medicines and humanitarian freight in the world for the benefit of hospitals, health centers, leper-houses as well as for deprived and isolated religious congregations.
ASF organizes special operations during natural disasters and the regular sending of nutritional products in Africa and Madagascar for underfed children. ASF carries out checks on local controls concerning the distribution and the use of its shipments.
Thanks to the help of Air France Cargo and TAT Express, parcels of medicine coming from all over France are sent to ASF Orly headquarter After approval of the Captain and agreement among the controls police and customs, they are assigned to the crews serving the destination most in need. The ASF antennas in Reunion Island (Saint-Denis) and Guadeloupe (Pointe-à-Pitre) support in-transit shipments..
550 humanitarian organizations benefit from this kind of transport.
Everyday throughout the year, 3 to 5 people from a team of 40 volunteers, put on board an aircraft(s) from 15 to 20 parcels of medical supply. At the headquarter in Orly airport, it is 15 volunteers assisted by an ASF employee who take turns to manage planning and shipments.
In 2011, ASF has sent 8000 parcels composed mainly of a majority of medicine, small medical equipment and surgical material but also wheelchairs. About fifty stations have benefited from these shipments.

Humanitarian cargo

ASF has negotiated preferential rates with Air France Cargo as well as with other airlines and shipping companies. This allowed ASF to offer this benefit to organizations wishing to ship humanitarian supplies in large quantities at a very competitive cost.
Finally, in the same vein, an effective partnership was signed with ATR manufacturer and the Airbus Corporate Foundation, putting at ASF disposal new aircrafts being delivered to transport free humanitarian aid from Toulouse or Nantes.
Thus, 31 tons of freight were transported in 2010 to 17 destinations in the world especially to El Salvador, Haiti and Chile to help the victims of earthquakes.
