Parcels of medical supply
Thanks to the help of Air France Cargo and TAT Express, parcels of medicine coming from all over France are sent to ASF Orly headquarter After approval of the Captain and agreement among the controls police and customs, they are assigned to the crews serving the destination most in need. The ASF antennas in Reunion Island (Saint-Denis) and Guadeloupe (Pointe-à-Pitre) support in-transit shipments..
600 humanitarian organizations benefit from this kind of transport.
Everyday throughout the year, 3 to 5 people from a team of 40 volunteers, put on board an aircraft(s) from 15 to 20 parcels of medical supply. At the headquarter in Orly airport, it is 15 volunteers assisted by an ASF employee who take turns to manage planning and shipments.
In 2010, ASF has sent 10 081 parcels composed mainly of a majority of medicine, small medical equipment and surgical material but also wheelchairs. About fifty stations have benefited from these shipments.
Among 600 organizations have benefited from this method of transport : Pharmacie Humanitaire Internationale, Secours Populaire, Ordre de Malte France, Œuvre Missionnaire du Père Lafourcade, Réseau des Entrepreneurs Solidaires, Persis, Resiac Bonsecours, Espoir pour un enfant (Hérault), Lutte contre la drépanocytose Madagascar…
