Toulouse, French aeronautic capital, has written many glorious pages in the history of aviation. It was therefore only natural that Aviation Sans Frontieres goes there.
The Midi-Pyrénées branch was launched on the March 10, 1999 on the initiative of its first delegate, Jean-Michel Proust. Now Alain Brodin occupies this position since 2009.
By opening this branch, the objectives of its volunteers, coming mainly from the areas of aeronautics, are naturally to make known Aviation Sans Frontieres and develop its actions in the region.
Initially the activities were modest, mainly those of "Ailes du Sourire" (Smiling Wings) with the first flight taking off from the Toulouse-Lasbordes Airport in the spring of 1999.
In 2000 starts the transport of medicines for the benefit of regional humanitarian associations. At the same time started the escort of children in need of emergency medical care between Toulouse and Paris .
As from the end of 2004, new activities were launched with the participation of ATR and Airbus in the humanitarian missions of the branch, through the transport of cargo.
Other activities such as golf tournaments and concerts aim at raising funds to mainly finance the operations of "Ailes du Sourire" .
