Child and refugees escorts

The escorts

Thanks to the skills of its volunteers, who are mainly from the aviation industry, Aviation Sans Frontières has acquired long lasting skills in the field of the escorting of very sick children by air, in need of urgent medical care.
In recent years, ASF France was requested by IOM (International Organization for Migration) to escort groups of refugees to their host country.
For these two types of escorts, Aviation Sans Frontières volunteers constitute an essential link in the humanitarian chain which brings seriously sick children back to health  and refugees' families towards a new life.

The volunteers

All ASF escort’ volunteers are either active or retired airlines employees. They all benefit from staff discounted tickets, based on a standby basis which enables them to escort sick children as well as group of refugees at a very reduced cost.
To become an ASF escort’ volunteer, you have to belong to an airline which gives you access to staff discounted tickets for you and/or for your dependants. Specific medical skills are not required to fulfill this task; however you need to be fully aware that taking care of a very sick child in need of urgent medical care or a group of refugees requires specific qualities and an excellent physical resistance. The duration of a child escort is generally from 24 to 48 hours and from 3 to 6 days for a group of refugees.
