Aviation Sans Frontières to experiment with cargo drones in conflict zones: a world first

Winner of the "Humanitarian Innovation 2023" call for projects from the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Aviation Sans Frontières will experiment, in collaboration with Atlas logistique-Handicap International, the use of cargo drones to respond to access difficulties in conflict zones.

Aviation Sans Frontières is launching a call for expressions of interest from drone designers and manufacturers, who will be selected and funded for field testing in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Part of the project will be carried out in collaboration with Panzi Hospital, led by Professor Mukwege, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018.

The stakes of this call are twofold:

To enable drone designers and manufacturers to promote their products in the humanitarian sector, for all intents and purposes.
Select light (5-25 kg per 100 km) and medium (150 kg per 300 km) drones for the experimental project.

Details regarding this call for expressions of interest will be available on the Aviation Sans Frontières website from 20 December 2023 at: www.asf-fr.org
